The partnership addresses one of drone aviation’s core operational constraints. Agricultural drones typically carry 10 to 26 gallons of spray solution, compared with 300 to 1,200 gallons for manned aircraft and ground rigs. At conventional application rates of 10 to 15 gallons per acre, even the largest drones cover only 1.5 to 2.6 acres per tank load, with refill cycles consuming 40% to 60% of operating time. SprayTec’s concentrates reduce application rates to 2 to 5 gallons per acre, allowing pilots to cover 5 to 13 acres per load.

“Agricultural drone technology has matured rapidly, but chemical formulations have lagged behind, forcing pilots to work within product parameters designed for completely different application methods,” said Erik Kellim, CEO of American Drone Network. “SprayTec recognized this disconnect and engineered concentrates specifically for how drone operators actually work.”

SprayTec’s formulations were developed from the ground up for drones flying at 10 to 15 mph at 10 to 20 feet altitude. The company says the products incorporate advanced surfactant systems, droplet size optimization and enhanced penetration characteristics validated across crops, pests and environmental conditions at low-volume application rates.

“Concentrate technology doesn’t just make existing operations more efficient — it opens entirely new markets,” said Brett Buyert, an ADN pilot. “I can now bid on large acreage contracts I would have turned down before, work in areas where water access was prohibitive and compete with manned aircraft on projects that require serious daily production.”

SprayTec’s product line includes adjuvants, compatibility agents, and phytostimulants, with the goal of helping the end-user be more profitable and efficient. Those solutions will not only help with application technology, but also with plant health and nutrition. All formulations are validated for low-volume drone applications that will still deliver high performance and ROI.

The partnership includes a training component. SprayTec representatives will work with ADN’s training program to instruct pilots on mixing procedures, application rates and handling practices specific to concentrate formulations.

“Concentrates aren’t difficult to use, but they are different from traditional formulations,” said Charlie Booker, ADN training director. “Proper training ensures pilots mix accurately, apply effectively and achieve the performance results that make concentrate technology valuable. We’re building expertise alongside product access.”

Beyond operational efficiency, concentrate technology reduces water use per treated acre by 60% to 75%, lowers total product volume transported to field sites, decreases packaging waste and reduces drift potential through lower total spray volumes — factors ADN said are increasingly relevant as growers face water use restrictions and sustainability reporting requirements.

“This partnership is a platform for ongoing innovation, not just current product access,” Kellim said. “As we gather real-world performance data from hundreds of professional operators, we’ll continuously refine formulations, develop new solutions and optimize application protocols.”

The SprayTec partnership follows ADN’s acquisition of CropFlight, a flight logging and compliance platform, and a recently announced partnership with Brandt for crop protection product access. ADN said additional ecosystem announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
