“ The Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan has launched a 14-day preparatory course for 200 agriculture graduates from Sindh who are set to travel to China for specialized training under the prime minister’s capacity-building initiative.
The crash course, being held at Sindh Agriculture University in Tandojam from March 4 to March 17, is designed to prepare the selected candidates before their departure to Chinese universities for short-term professional training in modern agricultural practices.
According to an official statement, the program is facilitated by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) as part of the government’s initiative titled “Short-Term Trainings of 1,000 Agricultural Professionals in China.”
“This program, facilitated by the HEC, is currently preparing 200 talented trainees from Sindh for their upcoming departure to China,” the statement said.
Officials said the training aims to expose participants to global best practices and innovative agricultural technologies so they can help address key local challenges, including climate change impacts and food security.
HEC Director General Aayesha Ikram delivered an online lecture to the selected candidates, highlighting the role of youth leadership in bringing modern agricultural technologies back to Pakistan’s farming sector.
The Sindh group forms part of a larger national initiative that has already trained hundreds of agricultural professionals in China.
Earlier this week, the HEC announced that 885 Pakistani agricultural professionals had completed advanced training at leading Chinese universities and returned home as “master trainers” to support the modernization of the country’s agriculture sector.
Selected through a competitive process, the participants received specialized training in areas such as artificial intelligence-driven agriculture, drone technology, advanced seed production and modern water management systems.
With the departure of the 200 professionals from Sindh, following their crash course, the government’s target of training 1,000 young Pakistani agricultural experts in China is expected to be completed, further strengthening Pakistan’s efforts to modernize its farming sector and improve national food security.”
