Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, incorporated in the Double First-Class development program. It comprises 17 schools and departments, with over 33,000 full-time students and more than 1,600 full-time faculty members.
Located in the main urban area of Wuhan, Hubei Province, HZAU nestles at Lion Mountain and is surrounded by lakes on three sides. It features a 5-square-kilometer landscape campus, a 9-kilometer scenic lakeside corridor and a 10-kilometer forest path, presenting an enchanting integration of natural scenery and academic ambiance.
In the first-round performance evaluation of the Double First-Class development program, 7 out of 9 overall development indicators of the university were rated in the top tier. A total of 14 academic disciplines including Environmental Science & Ecology, Microbiology, and Geoscience rank among the ESI Global Top 1%, with Plant & Animal Science and Agricultural Science entering the ESI Global Top 1‰.
The College of Resources and Environment currently has 144 faculty and staff members, including 119 full-time teachers. It hosts 2 Postdoctoral Research Stations, 2 first-level discipline doctoral programs, 7 second-level discipline master’s programs, and 2 Hubei Provincial Key First-Level Disciplines.
The College consists of four departments: Soil and Plant Nutrition, Ecology, Environmental Science and Engineering, and Resource and Environmental Information Engineering, as well as one Experimental Teaching Center.
It hosts key research platforms such as the Key Laboratory of Arable Land Conservation in the Middle and Lower Reaches of the Yangtze River (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs), the State Environmental Protection Key Laboratory of Soil Health Diagnosis and Green Remediation, and the National Agricultural Science Xianning Experimental Observation Station.
Adhering to the motto of “Integrating Teaching with Research, Unifying Knowledge and Practice”, the school has nurtured a large number of outstanding talents with a strong academic atmosphere and high-standard research platforms. Its distinguished talents include 1 National Distinguished Teacher, 5 recipients of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 4 Leading Talents of the National Ten-Thousand Talents Program, and 7 national-level young talents.
