Participants visited thebronze statue of Wang Guoxing, theRevolutionary History Exhibition Hall, and other exhibition areas, where they learned about the history of theBaisha Uprisingand the hardships endured by the Li and Miao people under the oppression and exploitation of the reactionary Kuomintang forces. Through displays of historical artifacts, including lychee cannons, traditional Li ethnic costumes, and agricultural tools, the exhibition vividly recreated the arduous struggle of the uprising and the resilience of the local people. Stories of revolutionary figures, such asComrade Wang Zhengcheng’sefforts to rescue fellow revolutionaries and intelligence agents risking their lives to reconnect with Party organizations, left a profound impression on the participants. These accounts highlighted the unwavering ideals, steadfast commitment, and selfless sacrifice of the revolutionary pioneers, providing all those present with a meaningful andinspiring lesson in revolutionary history and spirit.
The ceremony reached its climax with a solemn wreath-laying tribute to the revolutionary martyrs. All participants stood in orderly formation with deep respect as representatives from the five Party branches presented wreaths in honor of the fallen heroes. Accompanied by solemn music, everyone observed a one-minute silence to commemorate the revolutionary pioneers who sacrificed their lives for national liberation. Following the tribute, participants walked clockwise around the Martyrs’ Memorial Monument to pay their respects and reflect on the contributions of the fallen. The event then continued with all Party members facing the Party flag and raising their right fists to reaffirm their Party membership oath under the leadership of Comrade Wang Guangfu, while new members took their collective oath of admission. The resounding pledges echoed throughout the memorial park, reinforcing the participants’ sense of identity, responsibility, and mission as Party members, and inspiring them to remain true to their original aspirations and continue striving forward with determination.
After the site visit and learning activities, all participants gathered at the Memorial Park’s Red Lecture Hall for a special lecture and discussion session. As part of Hainan Normal University’s ongoing “Strong Nation Initiative” and Party-building collaboration efforts, Dean Zhang Xia of the School of Law led faculty and student Party members in the event and delivered a lecture entitled “Inheriting the Spirit of the Baisha Uprising and Practicing a People-Centered Approach to Achievement.” Using the example of Wang Guoxing, a leader of the Baisha Uprising known for his unwavering loyalty to the Party and dedication to serving the people with integrity, she emphasized that true achievements are measured not by reports or statistics, but by the well-being and support of the people. Drawing on the realities of the fisheries sector, she noted that the greatest accomplishment of fisheries professionals is to help fishermen improve their incomes, livelihoods, and quality of life. The lecture also examined the evolution of the rule of law, highlighted cases where superficial achievements were prioritized over substantive results, and contrasted them with the selfless dedication of Party members working on the front lines of maritime dispute resolution. Participants were encouraged to embrace a practical, service-oriented approach centered on the needs of the people. In addition, Zhang Xia introduced the School of Law’s research contributions to grassroots legal services and the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port’s legal framework, and pledged on behalf of her team to provide ongoing public-interest legal support and legal education to the Hainan Fisheries Association, helping address legal challenges within the fisheries sector, improve the industry’s business environment, and support the high-quality development of Hainan’s fisheries through the rule of law.
